 Mauremys (Annamemys) annamensis

Vietnamese Leaf Turtle

DISTRIBUTION: Central Vietnam.

EMPIRE STOCK: WC exported from Vietnam and CB zoo stock.

SIZE: Up to 17cm SCL. 

HABITAT: They are found in slow moving water and marshes.

DIET: Mazuri Turtle or Aquamax 500 & 600, fish, fruits, and vegetables.

SEXING: Males have concave plastrons and longer thicker tails with the vent beyond the carapacial rim.

BREEDING: This species has Temperature-dependent Sex Determination.

NOTES: As of February 2003 they are on CITES appendix II.

This species has hybridized with Chinemys nigricans, C. reevesii, Cuora amboinensis, Mauremys mutica, and Ocadia sinensis in captivity. Do not mix M. annamensis these species and be careful of mixing it with others.

Carapaces

Plastrons. The top three are males and the bottom three are females.

One of three that hatched from my first clutch in 2005.

General incubation for water turtles was used (30ºC and high humidity).
