Ghost Crab Ocypode quadrata, known to predate sea turtle and terrapin hatchlings. |
Unintentionally cut off from their burrows by me, swarms of Fiddler Crabs Uca pugilator made for the shallow water. |
Close but no cigar. One of many sets of Terrapin tracks leading up the dune to a nest, but no adult Terrapins spotted all day. Possibly due to me being here on a weekend when the constant boat traffic no doubt spooks them. The third time will be the charm. |
