Florida Distribution: entire state

Identification: up to 81 cm. This is a Coral Snake mimic. The nose is red and red bands touch black bands - whereas the Coral Snake has a black nose and the red bands touch the yellow bands. The color pattern of the Scarlet Snake is similar to the Scarlet Kingsnake, but the Scarlet Snakes bands do not continue across the belly - they do in the Scarlet Kingsnake.

Unlike the above snake the light bands are white instead of yellow.
