Northern Curly-tailed Lizard

Florida Distribution:  INTRODUCED SPECIES. Southern Florida.

Identification: up to 25 cm. Similar in appearance to Sceloporus. Coloration generally brown. Raised scales down back. Banded tail, which is held curled when hunting and scorpion-like by males to attract females and deter other males.

Spotted while filling up at a gas station in Hollywood Florida.
