Eastern Garter Snake

Florida Distribution: entire state.

Identification: up to 1.2 M. Checkered appearance.

Usually found near water. This one had been fishing for guppies in one of my ponds.

Young snake, but already larger than a newborn. Garter Snakes are livebearers.

Not a happy camper! If cornered, Garters will musk and strike when cornered.
